Job Description:

  • Acts as both the Inspector and Technician as directed.
  • Performs the acceptance and initial inspections to determine the nature and extent of weapon system repairs required.
  • Performs final inspections on weapon system after repairs have been completed when acting as the QC Inspector.
  • Disassembles, examines parts and assemblies as required and reassembles and adjusts components as necessary to complete the repairs IAW with the appropriate TM.
  • Determines serviceability of parts and diagnoses and determines remedies for failures commonly encountered in the repair of weapon systems using a variety of diagnostic techniques and TMDE with little or no supervision.
  • Safely uses common hand tools and shop equipment effectively without assistance.
  • May instruct other employees in proper repair maintenance procedures.
  • Required to conduct and receive cross training as directed.
  • Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System.
  • Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Clearance Required:

  • Active Secret / Tier 3

Attends classified meetings and requires SIPR and CENTRIX access to classified information necessary to support the USG and documents related to future missions and strategies.

Certification & License:

  • Must be able to pass the Inspector and Technician PQS within 30 days of hire.
  • S. Army MOS 45K, 91F, 91K or USMC MOS 2131, 2181 requires DD 214 for verification or BAE manufacturer certificate required.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience in Howitzer Armament Systems at DS/GS level required on M119 105MM, M198 155MM and M777 155MM Howitzer, is required.
  • Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience.

Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.

Specialized knowledge and skills:

  • Must have excellent knowledge of tools and repair equipment.
  • Driver's license may be required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively during a 77 hour work week.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. continuously, 50 intermittently.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
