POSITION SUMMARY: 

Responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of all fire alarms systems to include fire detection, fire alarm and mass notification systems per UFC, NFPA standards in support of base operations. The qualified candidate shall work with a team of Electricians, Fire Alarm Technicians and Fire Suppression Technicians.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Complete effective and efficient inspection, testing, operation, maintenance, repair, programming and upkeep of fire alarm and control systems.
  • Shall be proficient in the principles of electronics and electricity; types, capacity, and purpose of low voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters.
  • Shall have the skills and ability to inspect, test, and maintain fire detection and alarm systems; interpret instrument and meter readings, wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications, use applicable test equipment, safety rules and practices, environmental policies, and operation and repair of on-site fire alarm and control systems
  • Shall document inspection results and recommendations, implement a preventative maintenance plan and maintain records to include an inventory to track fire alarm systems and door releases.
  • Shall request parts through government established processes receive parts and install.
  • Shall provide quarterly basic fire alarm training to specified military personnel.
  • Responsible for following a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with our client, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements.
  • Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas.
  • Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools).
  • Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:  

Circuits, breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays and meters. Standard office equipment (Computer, phone, scanner), automated management systems and tools associated with repair and maintenance work. May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment. Use of portable or vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work will be outdoors and indoors. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur. Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs.  Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions.  Task specific work environment training will be provided as required. Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U. S. interests. 100% Overseas Assignment.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Physical requirements include lifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending.  Occasional climbing and working in high places may be required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certifications: 

One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

Must have one of the five qualifications listed:

  1. Factory trained and certified for the following alarm systems: Simplex, GENTS, Monaco and/or Honeywell.
  2. Certified by a nationally recognized fire alarm certification organization.
  3. Registered, licensed or certified by a state or local authority.
  4. Employed and qualified by an organization listed by a nationally recognized testing laboratory for the servicing of fire alarm systems.
  5. Trained and certified on installation and maintenance operations for fire alarm systems for data centers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a current, valid U.S. Passport and Driver's License (able to drive manual transmission).
  • Must have and maintain a valid U.S. SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment.
  • Must be able to pass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge.
  • Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug testing and background checks.
  • Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense training. Training includes the successful fit testing of DOD provided protective gear.

Experience:

  • Shall have five years of experience in the ITM of fire alarm systems.
  • Shall be proficient in the Unified Facilities Criteria and National Fire Alarm Code.

Skills:

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Fluent in English with good verbal, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
  • Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements
  • Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred.
