Construction Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Construction Manager (CM) shall read, interpret, and decipher all construction documents (schedules, specifications, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, etc.), participate in design reviews, and ensure that all construction is performed in accordance with the construction documents.  Construction managers shall review construction sites daily, document the reviews, and file the documentation. The qualified candidate will work with a team of government and contractor engineers, designers and surveyors to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project completion. Ensures safety and quality of services provided.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Ensures that all construction is performed to the highest quality standards and in accordance with construction specifications.
  • Shall read, interpret, and decipher all construction documents (schedules, specifications, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, etc.), participate in design reviews, and ensure that all construction is performed in accordance with the construction documents.
  • Review shop drawings and product submittals and recommendations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Shall monitor, inspect, document and advise on all projects to include troop labor construction, as required.
  • Shall attend project-specific meetings, prepare, and submit reports of project status and progress. The Construction Manager shall also submit a master schedule that integrates all active construction project data on a regular basis.
  • Shall advise and/or assist construction Contractors to resolve escort and access issues, as applicable. 
  • May be required to travel to areas in the local area outside of the military installation to verify design requirements and quality of work being performed. 
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems, resolve emerging ones and analyze, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools).
  • Ensures all work areas are kept clean, orderly and in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program.
  • Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional, and mission requirements.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:  

May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment. Use of portable or vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities. Tools associated with facilities management, construction, repair and maintenance.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work will be indoors and outdoors. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur. Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs.  Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions. Task specific work environment training will be provided as required. Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U. S. interests. 100% Overseas Assignment.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Physical requirements include being capable of working in extreme environments, lifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending. 

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS 

  • Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any engineering, construction technology or construction management discipline.
  • Fluent in Arabic, preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current, valid U. S. Passport.
  • Must have an active US Government issued Secret Clearance or held one within past 24 months.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License and able to drive with a manual transmission.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Must be able to pass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge.
  • Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug testing, background checks, etc.
  • Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense training.  Training includes the successful fit testing of DoD provided protective gear.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of construction field experience.
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
  • Must be versed in International Building Code (IBC), National Fire Protection Association Fire Codes and National Electric Code (NEC), in addition to general construction practices.

Skills:

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point and Project.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management, leadership and human resources management skills.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements
  • Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred.
